The Commission has worked with suppliers of electricity to develop a standard set of information which is required on all domestic customers’ bills. This information includes giving customers details of their meter, the amount of electricity they are being billed for and setting out any additional charges or levys which the bill covers.

Additional Information Required on Your Bill
- An emergency contact number to call if you experience a fault or need to report an emergency
- Your account number
- The period to which your bill relates, the date of issue and the date when payment is due
- Your tariff category. More information on tariffs can be found here
- The meter reading upon which your bill is based. This should indicate whether the reading is based on an actual reading or an estimated meter read.
- A calculation of the amount due for electricity supplied
- Any levies applied to your bill.
- The total amount due for the period
- A brief description of how to make a complaint
- A list of payment options
- Your supplier’s name and contact details
Payment Issues
Suppliers offer customers a range of payment methods. If you are experiencing payment difficulty you should contact your supplier to discuss what options may be available to assist you. You may be able to put in place a payment arrangement which will allow you to manage your bills in a way that suits you better.
